Moutoux Orchard has Moved
Please stay in touch!
When the 2005 season came to a bitter-sweet end we began to pack up our things and move the farm and our lives to Wheatland, our farm located in Loudoun County, Virginia. It is difficult to leave behind our memories and our hearts at the Farm in Vienna. We are so appreciative of our caring customers who have made us feel loved and shown us that we will be missed. We hope that you will continue to support us in the future. We hope to continue our long standing family tradition of growing quality fruit, since 1948.
We will contiue growing our peaches at our Wheatland farm, where we currently have about 500 mature peach trees. We will be selling our peaches at the Potomac Vegetable Farms (PVF) stand on Route 7, our long time friends and neighbors in Vienna. They are located just around the corner from our old barn, on Route 7, about 200 yards west of Beulah Road. To learn more about them click here. We plan on opening up for pick-your-own once the apple and cherry trees are bearing fruit. The apple orchard in particular is exciting because we are planting 40 different varieties of apples, many of which are heirloom and old homestead apples, old favorites from the past. We are very anxious for them to begin bearing, but we must remember to be patient. Moutoux Orchard has had a long tradion in Northern Virginia and we must never forget our beginnings. Generations move in time and space and change is inevitable. We started our business in Falls Church, Virginia, moved to growing in Vienna, which at the time was out in the country. A generation later we moved to selling in Vienna. Now one generation further along, with the sprawl having caught up with us again, we have moved to growing in Loudoun County, and eventually selling in Loudoun County. We have absolutely loved our time in Vienna, and would like to pay tribute to John and Katherine Moutoux who were the visionaries of Moutoux Orchard. Katherine passed away on April 6, 2003 at the age of 93 after living a long fulfilling life. The resulting estate issues have forced our move. We want to keep the traditions and rememberances of the past, but we know we can't focus on the past, so we must look towards the future. We look forward to a long, healthy, and exciting future at Wheatland and we hope you we be there right along with us!
At our Wheatland Farm (seen at left) we have established peach trees that have been setting roots there for quite some time. Last spring we planted new orchards of apples, cherries, plums, pears, and more peaches! We are also making room for strawberries and other berries, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We hope that you will come join us at the Wheatland farm in the future.
In order to make our new farm feel a bit more like home we have relocated the Vienna barn to Wheatland. We dissasembled in it the fall of 2005 and rebuilt it out here in the Summer of 2006.
