Peaches are coming soon! We will be selling once again this year at Potomac Vegetable Farms stand in Vienna, Saturdays 10-3 and Sundays 11-3. The crop looks to be a good one, and I'd anticipate that our first weekend of sales will be July 19-20, with the possibility of it being one weekend on either side. Join our email list to recieve the best updates. See you this summer! February 08- Moutoux Orchard Biodiesel production
We are excited to announce that we are getting our biodiesel operation off the ground. We have a 65 gallon reactor and are making fuel from waste vegetable oil (WVO). We are making biodiesel at the orchard for use in our tractors, commuter vehicles, and neighboring greenhouse furnaces. This is, along with the permanence of our perennial tree fruit crops, all in an attempt to create a less fossil-fuel dependent agriculture. If you are interested in learning about our biodiesel production, or know of any excess oil sources, please email us at moutouxorchard@yahoo.com. 9/10/07
I'm sorry to say that peach season is now over... but what a good one it was. Lots of sunshine this summer made some delicious peaches. An early bloom this year caused an early start and an early end to this year's season, by about 10 days. We do not have any apples this fall. Our young trees our not mature yet and we expect it to be about two more years before they produce a substantial crop. Stay in touch, join our email list (see 'Contact Us' section), and we hope to see you next year! 7/5/07 --PEACHES THIS WEEKEND!
Peach season will kick off this Saturday, July 7th. We will be selling a limited quantity of white peaches at Potomac Vegetable Farms stand in Vienna. We will open at 10 am and stay open until we sell out or until 5:00. The next peach will be available the following weekend, July 14 and 15. Thanks and hope to see you out there! 8/22/06

If you miss out then, don't worry, we plan on getting another load the following week and will have them available Saturday September 3rd. 6/26/06
Peach season is just around the corner, about 2-3 weeks away, and vegetables including squash and zucchini are starting to come in now. We are selling herbal products and produce at farmer's markets in Lovettsville at the Game Protective Association on Route 287 on Tuesdays from 4-7, and in Purcellville at the corner of 21st and 23rd Streets on Thursdays from 4-7. Once Peach Season begins we expect to sell peaches and vegetables through the Summer at these two markets as well as sell peaches at the Potomac Vegetable Farms stand on Route 7 in Vienna. Look for our stand there in their parking lot Wednsedays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Check back for hours. Looking forward to a great season and seeing everyone soon!!

We are now entering our dormant stage of the season. We watched as the leaves in the orchard turned brilliant fall colors, now they have all droped to the ground leaving their bare branches to face the winter. We are in the process of moving our Vienna farm to the Wheatland farm in Loudoun County Virginia. There is a lot to do. The barn in Vienna is being disassembled and reassembled at our new farm. We are building shops and sheds, and moving equiptment.
We also have about three weeks left in peach season, so now is the time to enjoy them while you can! We will be selling Cresthaven yellow peaches as well as delicious white peaches this weekend.
In preparation for next years harvest we are mulching our entire orchard in order to combat weed competion underneath the trees. Mulching allows us to control weeds while not using harmful herbicides that can potentially weaken soil structure and possibly leach into our drinking water.
In addition, we have cleared room for vegetables, blackberries, red raspberries, and strawberries. The patches were tilled then a wheat cover crop was planted in order to control erosion, out-compete weeds, and add organic matter to the soil. We hope to harvest some of the wheat and grind it into whole wheat flour with our home grain mill. Our strawberries were recently planted and look promising for next years harvest!
