The New Orchard
March 28-31, 2005

We have been working the soil for our new planting for two and a half years in preparation for this orchard. This included lots of tilling and cover cropping. When it was finally ready we planted a little bit of everything! Twenty varieties of peaches; over fourty varieties of apples; and also plums, sour cherries, pears, and asian pears. Over 650 trees in all! We will be busy pruning and training them and can't wait until they are bearing. The first fruit will come the third year, the fourth year enough to call a crop, and by the fifth year they should be producing nicely.
